The Village of Minnetonka Beach, "The Beach" to locals, was incorporated in 1894. In 1922, the Village was incorporated as a city and is now officially "The City of the Village of Minnetonka Beach." The Beach remains one of the smallest incorporated cities in the State. Minnetonka Beach is a boot shaped peninsula located on Lake Minnetonka and is mainly residential with the exception of the Lafayette Club and St. Martin's Church. Careful planning has allowed the City to maintain open space and park lands, and to retain the "village" atmosphere.
